Dabur Vatika Hair Fall Control Styling Hair Oil

Dabur Vatika Hair Fall Control Styling Hair Oil is a new hair product that I picked up a few days ago at my hairdresser's. As she was washing my hair I spotted the Dabur Vatika box on the shelf and asked about it. Someone got the bottle off the shelf for me and I inspected it....

On the bottle the product has claims such as 'softening action', 'intense natural shine', untangling action', 'restores beauty to hair', 'restructures hair and damaged ends'. I opened the bottle to smell the oil, as this is important to me. This is one of the deciding factors for me on whether or not I will buy a product, of course the cost is very important to me as well as well as a number of other things... This oil cost me £6 and comes in a cute little spray bottle, which can be used again once empty.

As my hair was just newly relaxed (it has been three months since my last touch-up), I wanted to try out this oil. I have been experiencing some shedding, well actually quite a lot, which I know is stress related.

In terms of consistency, the oil feels like a serum, but I did not want a serum so I checked the ingredients which were Extra virgin olive oil, cactus extract, D-Panthenol and Perfume. On the side of the box, there appears to be aloe vera, I suppose this may be part of the cactus extract. Aloe vera is well known for its healing and penetrating abilities. In fact I use aloe vera gel in my hair from time to time when I want to slick my hair back.

We used the Dabur Vatika hair fall control styling hair oil in conjunction with the Jennifer Myers hair oil. I have been using the Jennifer Myers hair oil for some weeks now and I like it alot, and I will need some more of the oil soon, I still have a little bit left so I will hold out on buying a new bottle for a while. I took this product along with me so that my hairdresser could see it and we put a few drops of the Jennifer Myers hair oil on the scalp and hair before finally styling it.

After talking to my my hair stylist, we decided on trying out the Dabur Vatika hair fall control styling hair oil to see if it was any good...

I must say my hair feels very soft and not dry at all, it usually feels quite dry a few days after relaxing it, this is because of the chemicals used in the relaxing process to straighten the hair. When I got home, I wrapped the hair and sprayed some of the oil over my hair before wrapping it and then tied a satin scarf over it. The next day the hair was extremely soft but still maintained its swing and movement. So, the hair is not weighed down or stiffened by either of these products.

Update 9 June 2009

The last time I went to buy this oil at my hairdressers' it had increased to £9.00.

MAC Matte Creme Review

I have been using the MAC matte creme or MAC matte creme matifiante for a few weeks now, I bought it last year. It is designed to help with oily skin or shine, giving the skin an oil-free or mattified appearance. I have used this product in a number of ways....

Under foundation - The first time I tried the MAC Matte Cream I had washed my face and used a toner, I then applied some of the matte cream onto my skin before applying my foundation. It seemed to work quite well and the foundation seemed to glide over the Matte Cream.

Over foundation - I tried applying the Matte Cream over my foundation a few times, it seemed to work well, but I had to blend in my foundation as though I was applying it all over again.

Mixed with foundation - This is the most common application I use now and I have settled with this technique. Before I apply my MAC Studio fix fluid foundation with SPF 15, I squirt a little of the MAC matte creme onto the palm of my hand and then I pour a small amount of the MAC Studio fix fluid foundation onto my palm and then mix the two together, it then takes on a souffle-like appearance. I then use my fingers to apply the foundation to my face and neck area and then blend in using downwards sweeps until the foundation is evenly blended unto my skin. I take extra care to blend around the jawline as this is the area where your foundation can look false with the dreaded line if it is not blended in correctly.

Anyway, this third method seems to work best for me and my skin stays matte for most of the day, sometimes in the afternoon I will add some powder over the foundation if my skin is shiny looking (I have extremely oily skin).

Update 25th March 2009

I popped into Selfridges Oxford Street specifically to get my MAC foundation and while talking to one of their make-up artists I told her that I was using the Matte Creme and we were discussing application techniques. She told me that it can be applied in a number of ways but you can also dab it on if you are already wearing make-up as opposed to rubbing it in like a cream, this helps to keep your foundation in place with having to blend it all in again. Just thought I would share this new piece of info...
