Make your own Banana Smoothie / Milkshake
This is a quick recipe for an easy, nourishing, filling and wholesome banana smoothie or milkshake, which is great for breakfast or snack time.
You can drink smoothies in the morning as an enriching and quick breakfast that you can have on the go, and they make a great filling drink in the afternoon as well as in the evening.
I particularly love banana smoothies and have added this quick and easy recipe, which you can make in minutes with a minimum of preparation especially if you are in a rush.

You will need the following ingredients and tools:
*1 or 2 ripe bananas
*Semi-Skimmed milk
*Some Vanilla Ice cream (optional)
*Some sugar or honey to sweeten
*1 long serving glass
*Blender or liquidiser
Put the banana(s), milk honey or sugar into a blender, liquidise and serve immediately. You can add vanilla ice cream and nutmeg to give it a more interesting flavour, but sometimes I just like the easy option.
The banana milkshake/smoothie in the picture contains one extremely ripe banana, semi-skimmed milk, one tablespoon of sugar. The glass is a pint size, so it is very big.
Alternatively, you could use a portable hand blender, which is very lightweight and requires little storage space, they can even fit into your kitchen drawer. You can also use a hand blender to make sauces and soups as well as smoothies....

If you can't drink cow's milk because you are allergic to it or because you don't like it, you could consider substituting cow's milk with an alternative such as Soya milk, Rice milk, Oat milk, or Almond milk and if you are Lactose intolerant, you can try Lactose free milk.
Bananas have a high potassium content, so if you are a renal patient, this will not be suitable for you.
Please consult with your doctor first though. (I know this as I have cared for a renal patient and still do).
